About Barrhead...
Barrhead is a town in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, thirteen kilometres southwest of Glasgow city centre on the edge of the Gleniffer Braes. Barrhead came about by multiple small textile focussed villages coming together to form one large town. During the 19th & 20th century the town quickly grew its reputation from its manufacturing industries within. This saw a promising growth in the Barrhead community & economy but sadly ended in decline and closure later in the 20th century leading to mass unemployment.

Barrhead is easily accessible by multiple public transport routes and the M77 motorway. A new Balgray railway station is estimated to open of spring 2026 as construction plants have started. This new station will provide further connect Barrhead to Glasgow city centre. Residents & visitors have the option to walk the Barrhead Heritage Trail, three walks which include passing 27 historically significant sights around Barrhead. One which the oldest is the Arthurlie Cross, a 9th century carved stone.
